First Repair

First Repair is a non-profit organization working to educate and equip those who are advancing local reparation policies that seek to remedy historic and ongoing anti-Black practices. It was founded by Robin Rue Simmons, a current IOP Pritzker fellow who was the chief architect behind the nation’s first government-funded reparations program in Evanston, IL. TechTeam will create an interactive map showing legislative actions taken by municipalities around the country regarding reparations, with map markers leading to news, meeting minutes, or legislation in that city. This project will also include some preliminary research of legislative actions taken throughout the country, complementing data provided to us through First Repair.
