tech & society hub

The newly established tech & society hub is a community to foster conversations, interest, and policy-relevant writing around technology policy and ethics. Topics covered may range from AI governance to privacy legislation, current events, trust & safety research, free speech on online platforms, antitrust, digital inclusion, and human-computer interaction, export control policy, and more!

Previously, we’ve held small group discussions, an ideathon, speaker panels, and hosted an AI policy challenge. This year, we are planning a technology policy conference to convene students around the Midwest who are interested in exploring the impacts of technology on society (from both policy and technical perspectives). If you are interested in participating in conference planning, please express your interest in the general membership form or fill out this form: https://forms.gle/hnkDgF8zXqFdXcWf7.

In addition to sharing opportunities, writing, and interesting events with each other, we are also planning on hosting discussions and lightning talks! If you are interested in hosting a discussion or suggesting topics we should cover, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/aBBYfntnpkXbGkgw6.

We are also always looking to collaborate with different organizations and institutes on and off campus! Please email us at uchicagotechteam@gmail.com to inquire about possible collaborations.
