The tech & society hub builds community to foster conversations, interest, and policy-relevant writing around technology policy and ethics.

Previously, we’ve held small group discussions, an ideathon, speaker panels, and hosted an AI policy challenge. Last year, we planned “Tech for Good,” a technology policy conference that convened more than 150 students around the Midwest interested in exploring the impacts of technology on society (from both policy and technical perspectives). This year, we are organizing a small tech policy writing cohort, planning the second year of the conference, and organizing speaker events.

Topics may range from AI governance to privacy legislation, current events, trust & safety research, free speech on online platforms, antitrust, digital inclusion, human-computer interaction, export control policy, and more!
