who we are
TechTeam, a Student Civic Engagement group of the University of Chicago Institute of Politics, works to advance public good through the effective and responsible use of technology. By drawing on the skills of civic-minded UChicago students from all disciplines, TechTeam’s goal is to build a community of students who design digital tools and advance technology education and policy to serve communities.
TechTeam’s projects support partners to strengthen technical infrastructure and leverage data, expand understanding of open data resources, and provide students platforms to navigate the policy and societal questions that come with new technologies. For example, TechTeam partners with Chicago-area community organizations and state and local governments to help them use digital tools, expand their online presence, and leverage data to do what they do, better. Every team produces tangible deliverables with lasting impacts.
